We extend our warmest congratulations to the Co-Founder and President of Georgian American University, Dr. R. Michael Cowgill, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his distinguished professional career.
His decades of unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions serve as a true source of inspiration to many. We wish him continued health, vitality, and success, as his greatest achievements undoubtedly lie ahead.
50 years ago this month, a university student from a small rural community in the state of Missouri in America, began his professional career. And what a dream job it was - working for 2 years as an engineer for Bechtel at the world's largest LNG plant (Mobil Arun) in the country of Indonesia.
He never looked back. It was the start of his love affair with international work and travel. It was this beginning and everything in between - including working on projects in 52 countries....that finally brought him to Georgia in the late 90's as President Sheverdnadze's energy adviser to support the implementation of the BTC and SCP pipelines.
Followed with many other companies, projects, NGO's and charities in Georgia and the Region - and most importantly - the cofounder and founding President in 2005 of Georgian American University (GAU) - later expanding to Kyiv and Tashkent.
Education has been a key aspect of his success: Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, MBA and PhD in Business Administration.
Blessed to have had such rewarding opportunities he continues to live his life with 3 key principles: 1) no regrets; 2) he cares, and 3) he hopes he is making a positive difference in the lives of others...
